Today, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo met with Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy of the Republic of Korea (ROK) Lee Chang-yang to hold the first Ministerial-level meeting of the U.S.–ROK Supply Chain and Commercial Dialogue (SCCD). The Secretary and the Minister discussed shared efforts on export controls and semiconductor supply chain resiliency. They also formally launched a new Digital Economy Working Group and discussed the prospects for new workstreams on robotics and additive manufacturing. Secretary Raimondo thanked Minister Lee for the Republic of Korea’s ongoing leadership and contributions to the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF). She also welcomed collaboration on the upcoming U.S. Cybersecurity Trade Mission to East Asia, which will have a mission stop in Seoul this September. At the end of the SCCD, the Secretary and Minister issued a joint statement.
