Recipients of Social Security Should Have Received Their Most Recent Stimulus Check

These checks, which range in amount up to $1,400, are intended to help those who suffered economic hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which now has been going on for more than a year.

According to a recent news report, recipients of Social Security benefits should have received their stimulus checks early to mid-April. Most stimulus checks will be deposited directly into recipients’ bank accounts; however, some will receive a Direct Express card in the mail.

One issue Some Social security recipients face when receiving their stimulus checks is that the government relies on information from 2019 and 2020 tax returns when determining stimulus check eligibility. The government also uses this data to determine where to send the checks. Thus, if someone did not file taxes for 2019 or 2020, the government may not know where to send the check. While this will not change someone’s eligibility, it can lead to further delay. Individuals who believe they were supposed to receive a stimulus check but have not yet seen the funds deposited into their account can check the IRS “Get My Payment” page for assistance.
