Attorney Michael Gilfix Shares Key Insights on Trump Policies in Trusts & Estates Article

Aug 21, 2017

San Francisco, CA (Law Firm Newswire) August 21, 2017 – Nationally known attorney Michael Gilfix of Gilfix & La Poll Associates discusses the impact of President Donald Trump’s policies on the elderly population and individuals with disabilities in an article published recently in Trusts & Estates magazine.

Titled “Trump Initiatives Affecting Vulnerable Populations,” the article provides an in-depth report and analysis of initiatives that are being ushered in by the new administration. Gilfix co-authored it with two other elder law and special needs planning attorneys for the July 2017 issue of the prestigious legal journal.

“It is important for older Americans, individuals with special needs and their family members to be informed about the proposals that affect them the most,” commented Gilfix. “That way, the changes will not take them by surprise and they can better plan for the future. Our goal is to provide these population groups with clarity and helpful, accurate information about taxation, health care, government programs and other relevant topics of concern.”

The article explains the Trump administration’s proposed tax reforms and their potential impact on estate planning for seniors and Americans with disabilities. The authors also cover Medicaid eligibility and planning, as well as the future of government programs such as Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI).

Gilfix and his co-authors — attorneys Vincent J. Russo and Harry S. Margolis — are three of the five founding members of the Trump Policy Analysis Group. They created the group three weeks after the 2016 presidential election to address the uncertainty and confusion surrounding the government’s agenda. It was established to meet “an extraordinary need for objectivity as new proposals emerge from the administration and from Congress, especially concerning older Americans and Americans with disabilities.”

Gilfix is a partner of Palo Alto, California, law firm Gilfix & La Poll Associates. He is also a prolific author and speaker with decades of experience in the areas of estate planning, elder law and special needs planning.
