Drunk Driver Kills Biker And His Passenger

Southfield, MI (Law Firm Newswire) August 2, 2013 — Two die in motorcycle accident involving a drunk driver.

“Rafaelito DeJesus and Melissa Rupa, out for a ride on his Suzuki motorcycle, were both killed on impact when another vehicle struck them. DeJesus was 23-years-old. Rupa was 25-years-old at the time of the accident,” explained Darren Monroe of Litigation Funding Corporation, Michigan. The accident happened on the New York State Thruway at 1:10 a.m., near an exit ramp.

The couple were headed north on the Thruway when they were hit. The driver of the vehicle that struck and killed them was cited for driving while intoxicated and vehicular homicide. Eyewitnesses told police they had seen the car driver weaving on the road and apparently travelling at a high rate of speed, just prior to the collision.

“The deceased’s families may want to discuss this case with a wrongful death lawyer, as but for the egregious actions of the drunk driver, both young adults would still be alive today,” Monroe said.

If the families choose to hire a personal injury lawyer to pursue a claim for compensation for the loss of their son and daughter, they may be assisted in their quest for justice by applying for pre-settlement funding from a litigation funding company.

“A lawsuit cash advance is an emergency loan, designed to help victim’s get through a cash crunch, while waiting for their case to be heard in court, or settled out of court. The funds, also referred to as a lawsuit loan, are sent to approved plaintiffs within 48 hours of applying for financial help, and being approved by the litigation funding company. They just need to hire an attorney to proceed,” explained Monroe.

A lawsuit cash advance has many advantages for a victim, not the least of which is they do not need to deal with any insurance companies. This is often a great relief for plaintiffs, as insurance adjusters often attempt to get them to settle quickly, and for far less than what may be awarded in court.

“One other benefit that many plaintiffs find attractive is that should they lose their case in court, they are entitled to keep the lawsuit cash advance, with no strings attached. Understandably, pre-settlement funding is not ideal for everyone, but check it out first before making that decision. It may be the best phone call you ever make when you need help,” added Monroe.
