Three Car Sandwich Kills Young Teen

Aug 29, 2012

Nashua, NH (Law Firm Newswire) August 28, 2012 – This crash ended in death by fire for a 17-year-old boy. He was in the wrong place and the wrong time.

“There are some days that just don’t turn out to be what you’d think they were going to be,” observed Charlie Donahue, a Brattleboro injury lawyer with offices in Keene, New Hampshire.”The people involved in this accident did not see it coming until it was too late.”

Speed may have been a factor in this three vehicle crash that sandwiched a car, rolling it, and causing its gas tank to explode, engulfing the car in flames. The backseat passenger, a 17-year-old boy could not be extricated, and died at the scene. It was the day from hell for those involved in the accident, and for the first responders sent to help the victims. This horrific crash and death was a nightmare of human suffering for his loved ones.

The accident happened in the early evening hours, when a 2004 Chevrolet slammed into the rear end of a 2007 Jeep that was disabled in the fast lane. As the driver and front seat passenger got out of the car to check on the Jeep’s driver, their car was hit by an SUV, causing it to rollover and burst into flames. The passenger was trapped in the car, with no way to help him. The other victims were either tended to by paramedics at the scene, or were taken to hospital for a medical exam.

“Does the deceased’s family have a wrongful death lawsuit? Yes, for at least two reasons. The driver of the car he was riding in was not paying attention to where they were going, and rear ended the stranded Jeep. The driver of the SUV that slammed into the car was also not watching where they were going. Both drivers set up the perfect storm for the death of the 17-year-old boy; a death that could have been avoided had people been following the rules of the road,” suggested Donahue.

“Nothing can bring their son back, which is what they would like and perhaps a lawsuit sounds crass. However, the only justice the system has is money, as there is no way to compensate the loved ones otherwise. If the insurance money can make their lives a tad bit easier they deserve it,” Donahue remarked.
