Fatal Truck Crash Severs Chevy Pickup In Two Reports Austin Injury Lawyer Bobby Lee

Feb 13, 2014

Austin, TX (Law Firm Newswire) February 13, 2014 – A drunk driver caused the death of one man on a Louisiana highway.

“We see crashes in Texas such as this one far too often,” indicates Bobby Lee, an Austin car accident attorney with Lee, Gober & Reyna. “It never gets any easier for anyone to see a vehicle severed in two as a result of an accident involving a drunk driver and knowing with a fair amount of certainty, that someone did not make it out of that wreck alive.”

This crash happened in Louisiana when a 35-year-old man, behind the wheel of a Chevy pickup truck, wandered into the southbound lane of Highway 25, slamming head-on into another pickup truck. The 32-year-old driver of the other vehicle died instantly on impact when his truck was severed in two.

First responders and police were on the scene within minutes of the 6:00 a.m. crash, followed shortly by state troopers. According to what eyewitnesses said and the preliminary results of the police investigation, the 35-year-old man would face charges of vehicular negligent injuring, vehicular homicide, DWI and driving left of center. The drunk driver and his passenger were taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries, and when the man was released from medical care, he was arrested.

Despite the fact that the dead driver was wearing a seat belt, was in his own lane and was traveling the posted speed limit, he did not make it home. He rounded a curve to be greeted by an out-of-control truck that broke his vehicle in two pieces. “It was one of those accidents that no one could have anticipated, death coming out of nowhere,” says Lee. “I have seen a number of wrecks like this over the years that I have been practising injury law. It never ceases to bother me that people take their own lives and the lives of others into their hands by choosing to drive while impaired.”

Survivors of an accident involving an impaired driver need experienced legal counsel in order to obtain compensation for their injuries. They also need help negotiating the pitfalls presented to them by insurance companies wanting them to accept a quick settlement for far less than what they would be entitled to if they take their case to court. “Do not let an insurance company harass you into signing anything after you have been involved in an accident. Speak to my office. We’ve got your back,” adds Lee.

  • Freeway-Side Parking Can Cause Accidents
Four years ago, a big-rig trucker parked his 18-wheeler in an emergency lane on a southern California highway. A driver in an SUV crashed into the truck, killing three people. Though the accident took place years ago, the case is only making its way through the courts now. At trial, the plaintiff alleged that the trucker was not permitted to pull over into an emergency lane for a sleep break, as the lanes are designated only for use in emergency situations. Additionally, he failed to set up any flares or other emergency reflectors to outline the presence of the semi. […]
  • Driving Under the Influence Includes Substance Abuse
After a recent fatal collision, a man pled guilty to driving under the influence of heroin. His SUV rammed into the rear end of a car on a snow-covered highway, killing an 11-year-old boy and severely injuring another individual. The force of the impact then caused the automobile to crash into two other vehicles. The crashes occurred in the early evening hours when the man’s Ford Expedition rear-ended the Chevrolet Cavalier. The 11-year-old backseat passenger was killed on impact, and an 18-year-old front seat passenger was seriously injured. The Cavalier was then propelled into two parked vehicles, both of whom […]
  • Drive Safely: Focus on the Road With Children Aboard
To drive with safety in mind, focus on observing everything around you. Any distraction — from texting or adjusting a GPS device to handling obstreperous kids — increases the risk of a serious crash resulting in injuries or death. A newly released study by the Monash University Accident Research Center conclusively determined what every parent, nanny, babysitter and sibling already knew: it is more dangerous to drive with children in the backseat. And it’s not just a bit more dangerous. Risks can increase up to twelvefold. Researchers installed cameras in 12 family vehicles for three weeks. Surprisingly, the cameras revealed […]
  • Unnecessary Transvaginal Mesh Implant Harms More Than It Heals
One woman from Phoenix, Arizona wanted a solution to stop her bladder from leaking. The organ had dropped after the delivery of her four children, all of whom were unusually large at birth. Her surgeon recommended a transvaginal mesh kit as the best method to deal with her problems. She agreed to proceed with the operation, unaware of any alternatives. The doctor also told her that it would make her life easier if she had her cervix and uterus removed and if she had a hysterectomy. She got the impression it was a normal process for older women. Later, she […]
  • 6,400 More Transvaginal Lawsuits Ready For Court
Medical device manufacturers may wish that the recent transvaginal lawsuits would hurry up and go away, but they have only just begun. In the past months, a massive run of personal injury lawsuits has begun to roll towards them. In fact, the first of 6,400 suits is slated to reach West Virginia courts in March. Boston Scientific has been named as the defendant. The sheer scale of this litigation is astounding; more than 30,000 medical negligence and defective product lawsuits have been filed against six U.S. mesh makers. Most of the cases allege that the manufacturers knew, or should have […]
